Declare Your Freedom With Peace Of Mind!

Greetings to all of you and Happy July 4!

For those of us in the ACIM world, it’s also a special time to remember our beloved co-scribe of A Course In Miracles, Bill Thetford, who declared his freedom (made his transition) on July 4, 1988.  For those who are newer to the Course, here are a few details.  At that time, Bill was living in southern California, but had come up to Tiburon to stay with Judy and Whit Whitson for the July 4th festivities. Judy loved having her home filled with people, interesting activities and events, and this was certainly no exception.  On that morning, Bill started out for his usual daily walk.  Judy had already started cooking for the large group who would fill their household later in the day for fireworks and more, but decided she needed a few more groceries.  So a very few minutes after Bill left, she backed out of the garage and started up the road.  To her horror, there was Bill lying on the sidewalk in front of the next door neighbor’s house.  The neighbor had been trimming bushes in his front yard and saw Bill collapse. By the time the paramedics arrived, he was gone.  Bill had had a heart condition since early childhood, but managed it well throughout the years with only a very few occasional incidents requiring medical care.

Besides being brilliant, he was a most clever punster, and all who knew him decided it was not an accident he had "declared his freedom" on July 4! Actually, over the years, Bill had diligently practiced the ACIM lessons, which he had helped bring into the world, and it had changed his life, as it does everyone’s who practice its principles.

So let’s join Bill, not with his physical infirmities, but with his kindness, willingness to listen, and dedication to putting ACIM principles into daily practice. To this day, he remains a gift to all of us!!
