We have an identity crisis and the resolution brings us peace!

Key Takeaways:

1)  You are unspeakably more than you believe you are.
2)  The ego, self concept, “story of me” is not the full picture of your reality.
3)  On returning to the “beginner’s mind” of “What if I really don’t know who/what I am?” we open ourselves to a radically different experience.

We Are Not What We Believe

I love having these opportunities to share with you both profound and deeply amusing situations that occur.  This one made me laugh out loud!  Someone inquired, after watching last week’s blog, if that was really me in the video. Now, questions in general imply a doubt, lack of certainty, or a need for information. I gather this one implied some doubt about the authenticity of my appearance in my own video, which I confess I found hilarious.  It made my day.

But it was perfect, and I’m so grateful it was asked, because it presents the opportunity to be reminded once again that we are not what we think we are.  We do have an identity crisis.  I am, indeed, more than appears on the screen and so are you - as you view yourself in the mirror.

The Real Truth Of Us

There are many references to identity in A Course In Miracles and they all imply we are deeply confused and unaware of our true nature and the brilliance, love, power, and glory that is the real truth of us - far more than what shows up as a physical body and its antics.  When we are finally ready to be truly in the question of what we actually are, rather than presuming we already know, then we are treated to an amazing awareness.

In Chapter 31 of the text, it firmly states that what we think we are is only a set of concepts/beliefs, an idol established early on, and definitely not the whole truth of us. Here it adds:

There is no statement that the world is more afraid to hear than this:

I do not know the thing I am, and therefore do not know what I am doing, where I am, or how to look upon the world or on myself.
Yet in this learning is salvation born. And What you are will tell you of Itself.

So we do have a major identity crisis on our hands and the experience of the amazing truth is always available when we dare to question.  Therefore - to continue to question, we must!

I hope you have the beautiful day you deserve,

Carol
